Paper pipe and box production

Silicates in solution are basically the only inorganic materials used as adhesives. These are particularly suitable thanks to their exceptional gluing capacity due to the quick transition, after a modest release of water, to a semi-solid state. The action of the silicate can be divided into two categories: one in which silicate acts as a cementing agent and one in which the cementing effect of the silicate is strengthened by chemical reactions. For the production of cardboard pipes with spiral or parallel machines, the silicate is applied through cascade, roller or dipping.

Silicates are also modified with additives that enhance their quality, depending on the type of wrapping machine, on the operating conditions or Cobb of the employed paper.
